the trifecta

We now have california and utah on the lake. Utah is our budget sleeper this year.
Steve and dan were our first customers and spent the afteernoon and evning in california. they end up landing a few fish but by no means did they pound them. I went out there yesterday morning and landed a 21 inch pike a 9 inch perch and a fat 16 inch walleye that I thought was close to 18 for sure.
All the other house are now out of the woods waiting untell the last minute to hit the lake. Kyle landed a 21 inch walleye monday night and thats pretty good for a 8 year.
Tony boy has been doing some scoutting for me. He has found a couple spots that have produced a fish right awaay but then nothing. he takes off today.
i have allready moved california and tony was going to spend the night out there last night. Utah is just out there and has not been fished as we will save it for our customers on monday.
This year I was going to start out just in front of our place but westwind moved quite a few houses out there yesterday.
I also thought about putting a house or two on the cribs but another outfitter said thats where he is headed today.
We will keep measure the ice and looking for theat honey hole as the season get under way

getting busier

I see westwind now has a few day house out . I open up my lakeshore today so I can start to pre stage the houses. There was activity at both westwind and hillmens as areas were prepped to pre satge sleepers.
Westwind has a great set up and top off all there propane as they take them onto the lake. Sure beats my meathod of lugging those 100 pounders in and out of the truck and on to the fish houses. I plowed just a bit out onto the lake to make room as I pull all the houses out of the woods. Kellie the wife sure is looking forward to spending some time fishing in old minnesota as it is her favorit house. we have had some great meals and fishing in that house over the years.
We still have plenty of openings for any fishermen that want to spend some quality time here on upper red lake.

Not sure what happen to my last post

Phil has been getting out with the kids and doing some fishing /scoutting. He has picked up a few fish but has not ventured out to far on the sled. There been a couple of small trucks on the lake but they are staying close to the dragged roads. I measuered over 10 inches of ice with 3 to 4 inches of frozen slush/snow where we drilled.
Were still hearing good fishing reports of the few that have been fishing.

Were slowly making ice. It was nice to see a little activity on the ice yesterday. There were a couple of fishermen out to the east of our shoreline and a nother out in front of westwinds. I saw no one further out then 3/4 of a mile by my guess. Tyler had a good detailed report of ice conditions and from what I read extream caution should be taken at this time. He did catch a few fish by the way.I still have not ventured onto the lake. Maybe by next weekend I will wet a line but its not on the top of my priority list at this time. I still beleave in letting mother nature take her course and being patient. Once the houses are on the lake I will be out on the ice everyday for the entire season. The reservation have started to trickle in but we still have plenty of our houses availble . With all the competition out there I will put the quality of my deluxe houses up against any on the lake.

Dec. 1rst

Mother nature has not delt us a good hand at this time. With the lake snow covered the ice willl be a slower process. A few have ventured out on to the lake but I have never been one to push the envolope on early ice. When I say venture its on a sled and close to shore. I beleave all the resorts busted up the stacked ice on there shorelines to help freeze them down better. It will be somtime before any vechicle even think about heading out in my opinion. We have dodged some snow the past weeks since the lake glazed over. I ttok the dog for a walk in the woods sunday and I was surprised how much snow was out there. Thats all for now but antone venturing out on any lakes please be carefull
